Join #TeamMinnies at the “WOW” volunteer center.

Volunteers are essential to the success of Minnie’s Food Pantry Plano Volunteer “WOW” center.  It is a production and an experience like no other.   The volunteer shift is from 8:00am- 12:00pm and you must be committed to the entire shift.  A typical day includes food sorting, inspecting, grocery packing and possibly  working on special projects or events. Currently there is a great need for off-site volunteers such as food drives, pick-up and delivery drivers, and Minnie Food Pantry advocates.

Our volunteers are a diverse group of  individuals, corporations and community leaders that are passionate about serving our community. All individual volunteers and volunteer groups are required to schedule a volunteer day by emailing and you must receive a confirmation email before you are come to volunteer in time in order to partake in the volunteer experience. We provide a great atmosphere for church groups, corporations and team building experiences. If you have a group of five people or more, please complete the volunteer now form to schedule a day that will impact your teams life forever.

For court appointed hours please email to discuss if there are any available volunteer projects/opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please email to schedule your volunteer shift in advance. We cannot accept walk in student volunteers that have not been scheduled in advance. Email  Because Saturday shifts are so popular, we keep a waiting list of volunteers. If space becomes available for a Saturday shift, volunteers will be contacted by email.

The hours are Wednesday through Saturday, from 8:30 am-11:30 am.

Our projects are designed for specific time periods, so we ask that volunteers commit to the entire shift. For that reason, it’s also very important that you arrive on time!

For individual volunteers requiring proof of completed volunteer hours, please review the following guidelines:

  • Immediate verification/signature of completion will only be provided to volunteers who bring in their own documentation following their volunteer shift.
  • For confidentiality reasons, verifications will only be released to the individual making the request and not to schools, community groups, or other service organizations.
  • In order to ensure your hours are accurately counted, please sign in legibly on the volunteer sign-in sheets.

Please bring your positive attitude, flexibility, compassion and a servant’s heart.

We encourage volunteers not to bring any personal belongings with them, as there is no secure place to store them. Please plan to lock your personal belongings in the trunk of your car or leave them at home.

Volunteers should be prepared to stand for the three hour duration with some light lifting and bending, depending on the project. Some volunteer positions including packing food boxes and loading vehicles do require heavy lifting.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate special needs in the food pantry. We occasionally have projects that our special needs volunteers can help with. Please email to discuss opportunities.

We accept volunteers as young as 13 years old. Any individual youth volunteer between 13 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older. Youth groups must provide one adult chaperone for every 5 youth under 18.

Double or triple your impact with corporate matching gifts. Contact your human resources representative to find out how to turn your volunteer hours into financial gifts to feed hungry North Texans. If your company offers this option, or if you need to confirm eligibility for corporate matching, please contact Erica Simon at

Volunteers should wear close-toed shoes and appropriate clothing such as, jeans and t-shirt. No sandals/flip-flops, extremely short skirts/shorts or low-cut shirts. Individuals wearing opened toed shoes and inappropriate clothing will not be allowed to volunteer.

All volunteering must be scheduled in advance. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate “walk-in” volunteers. All Minnie’s Food Pantry volunteer shifts have a maximum capacity due to space and resource limitations. It is our goal to provide the best possible experience for each of our volunteers, so it is important for us to know in advance when you are coming in order to provide the supplies and supervision to get the job done. Opportunities for our Saturday and holiday volunteer shifts frequently get filled up months in advance so you’ll definitely need to sign up early.
